A couple of people have asked me if I feel overwhelming love for Ella. I can't say that I am aware of such strong feelings... yet. I'm not worried about it either. It seems normal that it will take some time for us to get to know eachother first. The caring for her seems to came natural, although I do get annoyed now and again when I get woken up at night. And I do think she's incredibly beautiful and cute and feel proud of her... But the unconditional love parents describe to me will need some time to grow., I think
I had a better night last night. I realised I don't always have to immediately feed Ella as soon as she stirs. Cos that results in her getting used to drinking for 10 minutes and then falling asleep at the breast only to wake again 1/2 hour later. I'm trying to let her know that my nipple is for food only and not for comfort. So I managed to soothe her back to sleep a couple of times by just cuddling and talking to her, which is an improvement. I'm reluctant to give her a dummy at this stage, but we'll see.
Off to the GP now. Might drop in at work to show Ella, although I'm a bit apprehensive about going out for long, because I haven't learnt to breastfeed discreetly yet and couldn't find any clean front-opening shirts, only t-shirts.
