As I knew I would, I have been really enjoying seeing the father's reaction to Ella.

He now seems genuinely interested in anything I say about her and in my ideas and doubts about child rearing. He even wants to read the Baby Whisperer book after I raved on about it to him!

And the other day he told me that he had heard someone say at a wedding reception he went to, that a bath and a feed were a could way to get a baby to sleep. :lol The thought of him being engaged in a conversation about how to get baby's to sleep is really amusing.

I dropped by at his place yesterday. He had a couple of friends over and we just sat outside relaxing. I was so glad to be out of the house! I think he's trying to make less of an effort to hide his feelings towards her. Well, at least he dares to look at her and smile when there are other people present now.

And for the first time he asked me if he could hold her. Well he said "I'll have a go if you want" when I had been getting frustrated because Ella kept falling asleep while I was feeding her. So I asked him if he was going to have a go at breastfeeding. :)

He sat with her on his lap for a while and was obviously really enjoying it. He's still very clumsy when he holds her. So was I until recently. And when she started crying he didn't know what to do and his housemate took her of him. I should have explained she wanted to be held closer to his body... Next time.

It is really funny to talk to him about Ella. Mum and dad... What a weird idea! It is a very unique bond we now have. Nothing romantic at all. But a bond that ties us together for life. That will take some getting used to for me too.
