Ella got an information pack from the primary school. On a few pages it introduced all the key people like the principal, deputy principal etc. The introductions were all written in the same format and for each person it had the line "Ms X is your friend, she will help you at the school".

Well, we have been to the hospital and ds now has 3 shiny stainless steel crowns, several 'invisible' fillings, and a much brighter smile and disposition!
It was a huge deal for him - bit scared etc before, never been to hospital before and he knew something was up!! He was great though, and the dentist was fantastic with him - really pleased with the outcome. All up it cost about $3,600, but I will get some rebate from medicare and private health (not sure how much yet). I...

School open day

J and H had their school open day today, from 9 - 10:30am they went in to this years prep class. The girls were a little shell shocked at the number of kids there, we had to walk through a sea of parents and kids to get in to the classroom. They cried a little and clung to my leg like little monkeys, the teacher tried to get them to sit down, but they were clinging to me for dear life. I stayed with them for 10-15 minutes so they would calm down, this is their first experience with big school...

Ella went to an introduction morning at the primary school today. It felt quite strange dropping her off there. We were both quite excited about it.

I thought it was a bit strange that some of the parents stayed there. They looked quite out of place sitting there with this bunch of kids. I had to check if I was allowed to go and the principal confirmed that they actually expected all the parents to leave. Ella didn't even look back when I walked out.

How do you deal with having to nag and nag and nag to get your child to do things? Assuming that it's not just my child???

I have to ask Ella 10 times to dress herself, brush her teeth, stop jumping on the couch, eat her dinner, etc. It drives me insaaaaane!

My ex offered to have Ella for a sleepover tonight. Finally! Halleluiah! Hurrah! Only, when I asked Ella she said she didn't want to go. Sigh. She'd just had a sleepover with her grandmother and she insisted she wanted to stay with me tonight.

DD lost her other front top tooth yesterday. It looks so cute and she sounds so funny. Her first new front tooth is only part way down, so the gap just looks so big. Cute as can be!

I feel so pleased about Ella's eating habits lately. I felt pure joy when I saw her eat bok choy one day and lettuce another last week! Those were the first times she ate leafy vegetables.

And the day before yesterday she ate green beans for the first time. I mean, she ate more than one. I always get her to taste one or one bite of whatever I cook for her. But - after complaining she didn't like the first one, mind you - she ate all her beans and said 'yum'. Woohoo!...

Accident Prone

Mowing the lawn on sunday I asked dd to move the see saw so I could mow under it. She not only did that but lifted it above her head.
When asked she let it go. However her head got in the way on the way down... The result a big gash on the top of her head.. I thought it would be ok for stitches and didnt take to the hospital. An hour later she was back to summer saulting on my couch.
So a few braincells are missing but all is fine

I am a bit in love with this activity for talking to kids about good touch and bad touch. It's fun, it teaches protective behavious, AND you get to eat chocolate!!!
Now I'm going to shut up for a while and stop flooding this topic, I promise!
